The Tigress

At first sight you either fall in love with her or turn an envious green. She is beautiful and dangerous, a true femme fatale. You know how there are some girls you could describe as graciously mannered, decked with ladylike decorum? This girl is not like that. While she probably knows what decorum is, she is above any need to implement the stuff. She is just so cool.

Her name? Diana. Diana Oma. A name that sounds elvish, if ever I have heard one. Such heritage might explain the slight slant of her eyes, eyes that you only realize you have been staring at when their sharp blue glimmer turns to you. Then she would smile knowingly, just a tad condescendingly, at you before turning away with a shrug of her lush mane. This should explain why she has been voted the Hottest Babe in Moonbrook Academy of Magic for three years running.

Not only that, but she also came this close to receiving a stipend for the most impressive display of magical skill. Some of the gifted students had secretly agreed to do a little light show for the last end of semester ceremony. They never let Diana in on it, so she was pretty taken aback when the Dean's speech was interrupted by some fairly spectacular fireworks just over the heads of the audience. Everyone was impressed but her. She had pure determination in her eyes to outdo anything they would cast. I remember how she ran down and just took the stage over without the Dean even protesting. The display she put up was everything we had seen so far and more. Too bad that she set the lawn on fire at some point and the ceremony had to be concluded the next day, indoors.

They say she does not study all that much. She has some sort of natural talent for magic and keeps getting top grades in magic classes. In most of the others, however, she is barely at average level. She hates Herb Lore in particular. It makes me wonder if she really knows what she wants from life. Sometimes she skips classes and sneaks out to the city with other students. Once she persuaded poor Misha Kohelo to sneak out with her. They got caught and he was expelled, a fate Diana somehow evaded. Even so, she has never failed a course. Maybe because all our teachers are men.

You would think that a slender, charming young woman would be sweet, forgiving, and kind to animals. Well, I know Diana has a soft spot for furry little creatures, but she never forgets a grudge, and always gets even. She is often mean to her little sister, Nina, in a multitude of creative ways. Diana does not give much of her time to Nina, and when she does, someone usually ends up in trouble. And for some reason Nina still looks up to her.

Mere mortals have no chance with Diana. Maybe we are not meant to, either. She looks flawless to the eye and never shows a sign of weakness. Describing her as a smooth obsidian statue would be in many ways accurate, except that she is nowhere as calm and cold. Approach to pet her and you might lose your hand. I would call her a succubus, only of course I won't, you understand, as she might find out. No, she is more like a tiger. Sleek, swift, proud, ready to pounce. The Tigress of Moonbrook.
